Simplero

A 2009-vintage all-in-one for coaches: courses, email, CRM, funnels, payments and a community with forums, groups, badges and a points leaderboard. 0% transaction fees on every plan, your own Stripe or PayPal, and the cheapest plan is $70 a month for 500 contacts. No free plan, 14-day trial with everything unlocked.

The Honest Limitation
No free plan, and 500 contacts on the $70 Starter plan is the tightest cap in this category. One community on Starter; engagement badges need Scale ($179). No digest email found. Branded app costs an unstated extra monthly fee plus your own developer accounts.

The short version

Simplero has been around since 2009, which in this category makes it a grandparent. Founder Calvin Correli is Danish, the company is bootstrapped and founder-led, and it's now registered in Delaware. The pitch is the same one Kajabi and Systeme make: everything in one place, so you stop taping tools together. Courses, email, CRM, funnels, payments, affiliates, scheduling, a help desk for your customers, AI bots, and a community.

What makes it different from the other all-in-ones on this site is the audience it was built for. Simplero is for coaches and "soul-led" businesses, and it says so. The marketing talks about meaningful work, you can email the founder, and support is run by the people who build the product. If that language makes you roll your eyes, this isn't your platform. If it makes you relax, it probably is.

The community got a rebuild in 2024 and is more complete than you'd expect from a funnel tool: forums, groups, a member directory, chat, a feed, a calendar, badges, and a points leaderboard where the points are redeemable. We'll go through it.

Pricing we checked

No free plan. A 14-day trial with every feature unlocked (email sending is capped during the trial until they verify you're not a spammer), and a full refund inside the first 30 days.

  • Starter: $70/mo monthly, or $59/mo billed annually. 10 products, 10 courses, 1 site/community, 500 contacts, unlimited email sends, 250 GB storage, $5/mo of AI usage.
  • Scale: $179/mo, or $149/mo annually. Unlimited products, courses and sites/communities, 5 custom domains, 1,000 contacts, 1 TB storage, affiliates, upsells and downsells, course certificates, help desk, text messages, API access, $15/mo of AI usage.
  • Skyrocket: $299/mo, or $249/mo annually. 5,000 contacts, unlimited domains and storage, sales pipelines, split testing, custom admin roles, custom AI bots you can charge members for, $30/mo of AI usage.

Contacts and storage can be added to any plan without upgrading. The pricing page has a calculator: slide your contact count and the price updates. Billing runs every 30 days on monthly and 360 days on annual, which the FAQ calls "simple math, no calendar-month weirdness." There's also a running "90 days for $90" promo on Skyrocket.

Two things to notice. First, the contact caps are low for the price. 500 contacts for $70 is the tightest ratio in this category; Systeme gives you 2,000 for free. Simplero's answer is that you're paying for the support and the training, which are included on every plan. Second, Starter gives you one community. If you want a free community and a paid one, that's Scale.

Transaction fees

0% on every plan. Simplero never touches your money; your payment processor does, and you pay their rate. Rated 0%.

Payments

Your own Stripe, PayPal, EasyPayDirect, NMI, Commas, Affirm, and for the Nordic market QuickPay and MobilePay (Dankort too, with instructions in Danish). Plus manual payments for wire transfers and cash. You can run several at once and customers see all of them at checkout. Rated "Built in, multiple processors."

Community and gamification

The community lives inside a Site, which is Simplero's name for a membership area. The 2024 "community experience" replaced the old one (the help centre calls the old Spaces feature deprecated). What's in it:

  • Forum with reactions and comments, copy-link-to-post, comments in a popup, and a feed at /feed that shows where members left off in courses, upcoming events, and the newest forum activity. You can make the feed the site's homepage.
  • Groups, which are forums with their own access rules: buyers of a product, subscribers to a list, whatever segment you choose. Multiple groups under one site, each with its own broadcast settings. Rated "Yes" for spaces.
  • Member directory with recently active, near-you, and member cards. Members can hide their profile, their location, or switch off chat from their privacy settings, and you can hide the members tab on a group entirely.
  • Chat, switched on per site under Community features.
  • Calendar page that lists events linked to the site, with list and calendar views, add-to-Google-Calendar and a feed URL. Events integrate with Zoom. Rated "Yes."
  • Leaderboard. Turn on a points type under Community features and members earn 1 point for every reaction and comment they receive. Points can be redeemed against products or extra content. Add a leaderboard page to the layout and everyone can see the scores. So: points for being liked, not for posting, same convention as Skool and GoHighLevel.
  • Engagement badges (Scale and Skyrocket only). Five system badges awarded automatically: Rising Star (new member whose post gets five-plus comments), Conversation Starter, Conversation Booster, Greeter (commented on a new member's post), Member Anniversary. Plus custom badges with your own emoji, name and colour, awarded for posts, comments, replies, or completing a set number of courses or worksheets, with revoke rules. Awarding runs once a day at 4 AM Eastern, so the badge shows up the next morning, not instantly.

Rated "Leaderboard and levels with unlocks," with a caveat: there are no levels. The unlock is the redeemable points, not a tiered ladder. If you want Skool's level-9 progression, this isn't that. If you want points that can actually buy something, this is more than Skool offers.

Courses

Full course builder: modules, lessons, quizzes, worksheets, drip schedules, completion tracking, certificates on Scale and above. Video hosting is included on every plan, so no Vimeo bill. Course AI (Scale and up) gives students a chat that knows the transcripts. Starter caps you at 10 courses. Rated "Yes."

The three email questions

Does it send members a digest? We couldn't find one. Members get notifications per event (new comment, new post in a group they follow) and choose the channel: email, mobile app, or on the website. You set the defaults for new members under Notification Settings, and you can mass-unsubscribe members from site notifications but not mass-resubscribe them. No daily or weekly summary that we could find in the help centre. Rated "Basic notifications."

Can you email your members from inside it? Yes, and it's the full thing: broadcasts, auto-responders, automations with triggers and conditions, lists with double opt-in, segments and tags. Email delivery is built in; no SendGrid or Mailgun. Unlimited sends on every plan. Rated "Sequences and automation."

Can you get your list out? Yes. Contacts → Lists → your list → Subscribers tab → Download, as CSV or Excel. To include custom fields, filter the Contacts view, add the columns you want, and download the current view. There's no native sync to a separate email tool because Simplero is the email tool, so we've rated it "Native ESP integration" on the same grounds as Systeme and GoHighLevel: the ESP is the platform.

Getting in and getting out

Members in: CSV upload (must be UTF-8 or it's rejected), paste names and emails manually, or copy from another list. Rated "Yes."

Members out: Contacts as CSV or Excel with custom fields. Forum posts and comments: no export we could find. Rated "Members CSV only."

Courses in: Rebuild by hand. There's a "Migrating to Simplero" course in the help centre and they say they'll help you migrate during the trial, which is human help, not an importer. Rated "Manual rebuild only."

Mobile app

A free shared Simplero app on iOS and Android for every member: lessons, quizzes, community posts and reactions, progress synced. If you want your own icon in the App Store you can, but it needs your own Apple and Google developer accounts and "an additional monthly fee" the pricing page doesn't state. Rated "Your own branded app," with the fee unknown.

Affiliate program

20% recurring for 18 months per referral, plus tier-two commissions on partners you bring in. Application required.

Who it's for

  • Coaches and consultants who want courses, a membership, email and scheduling in one login and would rather pay for support than for a free tier.
  • Anyone selling in Denmark or the Nordics, where MobilePay and Dankort at checkout matter.
  • Creators who want a community with real structure (groups, directory, calendar, badges) attached to a proper email system.

Who should skip it

  • Anyone under 500 contacts on a budget. Systeme's free plan does most of this for nothing.
  • Anyone whose community is the whole product. The gamification is thoughtful but the feed doesn't have the pull of Skool's, and there's no digest to bring people back.
  • Anyone allergic to the word "soul-led."

Known limitation

No free plan, and 500 contacts on the $70 plan is the tightest cap in this category. One community on Starter. Badges need Scale ($179). No digest email that we could find. Branded app costs an unstated extra monthly fee on top of your own developer accounts.

The free plan that's actually free: 2,000 contacts, unlimited emails, one course, a community, 0% fees on your own Stripe or PayPal. The funnels and email are the point. The course builder and the community are the compromise. We use it, so this one's first person.

An agency CRM with a Skool clone inside it, down to the exact points table. $97/mo, 0% platform fee on your own Stripe, unlimited contacts, groups and channels, levels that unlock courses, a Skool importer, and a white-label app for $497/mo on top. Built for agencies, not creators.
